The Challenge rocked up at Kimbolton for round 6, another favourite track of many. It was a first time experience for our novices Mark Shepheard and Tony Cox. Points from this weekend will also be awarded towards the Supa 60’s with Tom Whyte currently leading. Lionel Sifleet and his son Aaron are certainly dicing for top spot on the leader board!

Heat 1 – Hancock took the initial lead. L.Sifleet then continued to lead the pack to the finish having pulled out a substantial lead. Hancock lay in 2nd until lap 4 when Whyte made the move to claim the place. T. Bury and Perkins fought throughout the duration of the race with T. Bury just having the edge. On the last lap Perkins pipped him to the post.
1st L. Sifleet, 2nd Whyte, 3rd Hancock, 4th Perkins, 5th T. Bury, 6th Henry.

Heat 2 – After experiencing a few dilemma’s during heat 1, Perkins took the lead from his pole position and for 4 laps left in his wake a fighting bunch of A. Sifleet, D. Bury and L. Sifleet. By lap 6 L. Sifleet was up to 2nd and catching Perkins. The next lap saw both of them scrapping through the willows, L.Sifleet put himself off and for the next 2 laps gave chase again. Perkins then suffered last lap syndrome as L. Sifleet snatched the lead at the end of the Start Straight. 1st L. Sifleet, 2nd Perkins, 3rd D. Bury 4th A. Sifleet but only just as it was a very close finish ahead of Hancock 5th and Whyte 6th

Heat 3 – Sifleet for the 2nd time took control of the race from the start. Perkins took over in 2nd on lap 2 from Sloane and D. Bury 4th . On the following lap D. Bury had an off at the end of Hines Straight in the attempt to gain places (on some oil left on the track) managed to save himself to continue 6th behind A. Sifleet and Fowler. By lap 6 A. Sifleet was up to 3rd closely followed by Fowler, D, Bury, Sloane and Whyte. Hancock entered the battle with Sloane and Whyte. Last lap saw disaster befall Perkins and he slipped down the pecking order with a stripped belt. The order behind 1st L.Sifleet, 2nd A. Sifleet, 3rd D. Bury, 4th Whyte, 5th Fowler, 6th Hancock had also changed from the previous lap.

Final – No extra points for guessing who hosted pole. As the lights changed L.Sifleet once again led the pack and completely dominated the race from start to finish. Whyte took up his position in 2nd place with the constant attention from Perkins. A. Sifleet and D. Bury were scrapping for 3rd. Midrace distance saw L.Sifleet having extended his lead dramatically, Whyte now not only had attention from Perkins but D. Bury had joined the fray having passed A. Sifleet. T. Bury had a Pit stop ( should have gone before he started !!) On lap 10 D. Bury passed Perkins into Stow Corner to claim 3rd. Two laps later saw the four drivers of, Whyte, D. Bury, Perkins and A. Sifleet closely contest for 2nd place, which was not decided until the flag!! T. Bury had rejoined!! Individual battles and skillful overtaking all through the race were seen between Hancock and Sloane, Fowler and Hancock, Henry and Sloane.
1st L. Sifleet ( a perfect score) 2nd D. Bury, 3rd Whyte, 4th A. Sifleet, 5th Perkins, 6th Hancock, 7th Henry, 8th Sloane, 9th Shepheard (N) T. Bury completing the top ten.
