The penultimate round saw the challenge visit Fulbeck for the second time this year, the only track we have rolling starts. A very welcoming club we have come to find especially to gearbox classes. Albeit a quiet meeting it was great to see a good grid of 210’s and a decent grid of 250’s entered. We welcomed Chris Jarvis back with us for what was to be another fantastic weekend of racing.
Heat 1 – Hancock held onto his early lead after L. Sifleet got a flyer from the middle of the pack: he certainly meant business and by the next lap had taken the lead. By lap 3 A. Sifleet had claimed 2nd but it wasn’t long before it was snatched away by D. Bury. Lap 6 saw Perkins pass A. Sifleet to claim 3rd but lost the place back to A. Sifleet two laps later. By lap 10 Fowler had joined in the mix and was up to 4th until he spun at the hairpin giving 4th spot back to Perkins. 1st L. Sifleet, 2nd D. Bury, 3rd A. Sifleet, 4th Perkins, 5th Fowler, 6th Hancock.

Heat 2 – With a Sifleet front row, it was L. Sifleet who led the pack, D. Bury split the pair around turn 5 on lap one to claim 2nd. By lap 4 Perkins was up 3rd having passed A. Sifleet who was beginning to succumb mechanical issues. By lap 7 Perkins had caught D. Bury and passed him 2 laps later to claim 2nd. Fowler who once again had worked his way through the field had made it up to 4th having eventually passed Hancock who had done a good job of fending off his advances. Disaster befell D. Bury as he pulled off with only 2 laps to go. 1st L. Sifleet, 2nd Perkins, 3rd Fowler, 4th Hancock, 5th Henry, 6th T. Bury.

Heat 3 – It was Perkins who took control at the front for the first 3 laps until he out braked himself into the Bus Stop and L. Sifleet was through to the front. Perkins gave chase for another 2 laps but engine maladies finished off his race thus handing over 2nd to D. Bury. Fowler and A. Sifleet were 3rd and 4th. Behind them Sloane, Stone, T. Bury, Henry and Hancock were battling hard and the ones to watch. 1st L. Sifleet, 2nd D. Bury, 3rd Fowler, 4th A. Sifleet, both T. Bury and Hancock enjoyed a good race making up places throughout the race to finish in 5th and 6th
Final – The Final was going to prove eventful. The front row was hosted by L. Sifleet on pole with Fowler sat alongside. D. Bury, A. Sifleet, Hancock and T. Bury hosted he next 2 rows. On the rolling lap D. Bury had to take avoiding action as the Fowlers front engine mounts broke and flew in his direction. As the lights changed L. Sifleet set the standard and led once again from start to finish. Fowler not being there to take up his front row grid position gave A. Sifleet the view of an empty track in front, in his haste he broke formation before the start line and incurred a 5 second penalty, luckily this would not affect his 2nd place result. On the first lap Henry spun it after exiting turn 5 putting himself last, the red mist worked well and he would go on to achieve a creditable 5th place. D. Bury motored along in 3rd until lap 8 when he was black flagged due to his side bar falling off which was kindly handed back over the fence to his partner Angela! Perkins and T. Bury kept themselves out of mischief and picked up 3rd and 4th due to D. Bury’s demise. Stone had picked off a few competitors during the race to finish in 6th. As the flag fell L. Sifleet once again achieved a perfect score. 2nd A. Sifleet, 3rd Perkins, 4th T. Bury, 5th Henry, Stone completed the top 6. First Novice to make it home was Cox.
