The 210 Challenge rocked up at Fulbeck for the penultimate round with everything to play for especially between the top 4 drivers of A. Sifleet, L. Sifleet, Perkins and D. Bury. This weekend would make all the difference in the fight to claim a seeded place. We’ve never seen a championship go down to the wire with so many in contention.

Heat 1 saw Perkins lead the pack closely followed by A. Sifleet, Stone, L. Sifleet, Fowler, D, Bury and the rest. By lap 3 L. Sifleet and D. Bury had passed Stone, A. Sifleet was really hassling Perkins which saw all top three drivers enter the Bus Stop together. Lap 5 D. Bury was out with only 3 wheels on his wagon!! On the next lap A. Sifleet went to make his move on Perkins, however his Father lying in wait made it difficult and passed his son Aaron and then went onto pass Perkins out of the top hairpin on the following lap, to claim the lead. As the race progressed A. Sifleet began to fall back into the path of Stone who was having the race of his life. Rawden in 5th was not far behind. Lap 8 saw Stone pass A. Sifleet to eventually romp home in 3rd. 1st L. Sifleet recording a new lap record of 44.52, 2nd Perkins, 3rd Stone, 4th A. Sifleet, 5th Rawden, 6th Sloane.

L. Sifleet lead heat 2 with D. Bury, Perkins and A. Sifleet right on his heels. Lap 2 saw Fowler in 5th spin on exiting pits bend seeing 8 drivers behind taking great avoiding action with Hancock paying the price of being behind Fowler losing out by 4 places. Rawden took up 5th spot closely followed by Henry and Stone. The next 3 laps saw two chasing pairs develop those of L. Sifleet and D. Bury, Perkins and A. Sifleet. Lap 6 saw Stone overcook it, spun, but luckily didn’t rebound off the starters gantry. A. Sifleet did manage to pass Perkins to claim 3rd on lap 7. 1st Sifleet, 2nd D. Bury, (if anyone one expressed concerns over Dan wriggling his head around during the race, a piece of grass sat dangling down from his visor impairing his vision somewhat !!!) 3rd A. Sifleet, 4th Perkins, 5th Rawden, 6th Henry.

D. Bury took over at the front for heat 3 and by lap 2 had a good lead from L. Sifleet 2nd, Fowler 3rd, Stone 4th, A. Sifleet 5th and T. Bury 6th. For the next 4 laps a battle raged between T. Bury, Perkins, Rawden, Henry and Hancock with Rawden and Perkins managing to claim positions in the top 6 with the demise of Fowler. On lap 5 A. Sifleet had made it up to 3rd. As the race progressed L. Sifleet made inroads on D. Bury and passed him on lap 9. As the both entered along the track by the grandstand on the last lap L. Sifleet missed a gear and D. Bury wasted no time and passed him to claim the win. 1st D. Bury, 2nd L. Sifleet, 3rd A. Sifleet, 4th Stone, 5th Rawden 6th Perkins.

The top two rows for the final grid hosted L. Sifleet on pole with his son sat alongside and Perkins and D. Bury on row 2 all these 4 drivers of in contention to win the No 1 plate. As the began the 2nd warm up lap A. Sifleet pitted with an overheating engine but was sent back out again and had to start the race from the back! D. Bury made the best start and was closely followed by L. Sifleet, Perkins, Henry, Rawden and Fowler. On lap 2 L. Sifleet squeezed his way passed to take the lead. Perkins was out on lap 3 promoting those behind him. On lap 4 T. Bury spun into the barriers prompting the immediate showing of the Battenberg flag for 3 laps whilst repairs were carried out. The field had now closed right up. Lap 8 saw the field racing again when L. Sifleet came to a halt handing the lead to D. Bury, Henry was now up to 2nd with Rawden still hassling, these two really were the ones to watch, for 9 laps Henry expertly stuck to his line. However on the penultimate lap Rawden’s determination paid off and he passed to claim 2nd at the top hairpin. Stone was up to 4th defending his place from A. Sifleet who’d steadily worked his way through the field. Stone didn’t make it easy for him but on lap 11 he just made it. D. Bury went on to win with a decent gap between himself and 2nd place man Rawden, Henry 3rd, A. Sifleet 4th Stone 5th, Fowler 6th, Hancock 7th, Sloane 8th Owen and winner of the Novice Trophy 9th with Shepheard completing to top 10.

Congratulations to Lionel Sifleet for claiming the lap record this weekend. In heat 1 he achieved the record of 44.53 but then went on to even better his time in Heat 3. Time to beat now to beat is 44.10

Congratulations to Taylor Hancock for winning the ‘210 Bake off’ and producing such a scrumptious cake.
