An excellent turn out of 210’s for the Superprix. 21 drivers had entered to contest the coveted ‘E’ plate. Heat 1 was held on Saturday with the remaining heats and final on Sunday. The weather was very hot during Fridays practice but luckily had cooled down for the actual racing. Sundays final was filmed although it was a little disappointing!! Kimbolton’s footage earlier in the year of the whole day had been far superior.
Heat 1 on Saturday saw Callaghan (30) lead the strong grid for 5 laps fighting off any attention D. Bury was inflicting on him. Sifleet and Perkins were not far behind fighting it out for 3rd spot. By lap 3 Hopes (41), Henry (4) in his newly painted chocolate wrapper colours and Stone (2) were dicing for position and by lap 7 Stone was up to 4th followed by Henry and Hopes. Unfortunately we had lost Callaghan on lap 6 who was parked up at The Stratford Hairpin, D. Bury led for a few seconds until a late lunge into the Chicane from Sifleet demoted him to 2nd place. 1st Sifleet, 2nd D. Bury, 3rd Perkins, 4th Stone, 5th Henry, 6th Hopes.

Heat 2. Perkins led the chasing pack around café corner and held on until two corners later when Sifleet (1) muscled his way through. Half way distance saw D. Bury begin to reel in the top fighting duo but he’d need a few more laps to gain a place. Henry drove a lonely race in 4th with Fowler doing his best to catch him. Once again Hopes was in a 4 way tussle to claim 6th this time with Caddick (N), Masson (31) and T. Bury (7). As the race progressed Hopes and Caddick pulled away leaving Masson and T. Bury to fight it out, these two had been stuck together like glue for the entire race. 1st Sifleet, 2nd Perkins, 3rd D. Bury, 4th Henry, 5th Fowler, 6th Hopes.

Heat 3. D. Bury led the first lap with a hungry Perkins (3) and Sifleet hot on his heels. Stone lay in 4th place, Fowler 5th and Henry 6th coming under pressure from Callaghan. Perkins made his bid on lap 2 and took over at the front, leaving D. Bury to fend off Sifleet. On lap 5 Sifleet passed D. Bury into the Chicane whilst Fowler and Callaghan continued to swap places for the next three laps with Stone also joining in to mix things up. Perkins went on to win leaving Sifleet and Bury to fight it out in 2nd and 3rd. Callaghan 4th and Stone taking away 5th from Fowler who seemed to slow on the last lap. Unfortunately both Sifleet and Stone were awarded 5 second penalty points for a jump start. Sifleet was therefore demoted to 3rd, Stone however managed to hold onto his 5th place. 1st Perkins 2nd D. Bury, 3rd Sifleet, 4th Callaghan, 5th Stone, 6th Fowler.

Final : This writer will leave you to watch the final on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PL_ysz9himg Some exciting stuff, but you had to be there to feel the intensity of Perkins and Sifleet duelling it out for the first 9 laps with D. Bury looking on and waiting for his turn, which did arrive on lap 12. Some great close racing was witnessed throughout the field.1st D. Bury, 2nd Sifleet, 3rd Fowler, 4th Stone, 5th Hopes, 6th Sloane, 7th N. Caddick, 8th Masson, 9th T, Bury, O. Shelley completed the top ten

Congratulations Dan Bury 2024 210 ‘E’ plate and Superprix champion.
Fastest lap went to Rob Perkins, Best Novice to Nathan Caddick. Well done all.
