How wonderful to see 19 grided up and raring to go, all competing for the coveted ‘0’ plate! For round 1 we welcomed Novice Dan Rawden son of Bob Rawden, who won the title of 210 Challenge Champion back in 1991, Dan racing No.57 his Fathers old number. We welcomed back, Tom Smith (28) and James Green (77) after a few years sabbatical and Lee Plain (11), who will compete in a few meetings this year as a guest driver.

Heat 1 saw domination from Plain who so nearly overcooked it on lap 3 at Stow Corner and by lap 5 as he exited the Willows 2nd place A. Sifleet was only just passing the start line. Fowler valiantly kept hold of his 2nd place until lap 5 when both Sifleets passed him out of Stow. Perkins was up to 4th on lap 7 and would finish 3rd after gremlins put pay to L. Sifleets progress. 1st Plain, 2nd A. Sifleet, 3rd Perkins, 4th Fowler, 5th D. Bury, 6th T. Bury.

Perkins led Heat 2 for the first 5 laps whilst Plain and A. Sifleet diced for 2nd place around Stow. Plain took Perkins along Hines Straight on lap 6 leaving A. Sifleet to harass Perkins, L. Sifleet 4th. Fowler in 5th spun at Stow, collected it well putting himself in the path of Green in 6th. A. Sifleet passed Perkins on lap 9 along Hines and Perkins would do his utmost to claim the position back. 1st Plain, 2nd A. Sifleet, 3rd Perkins, 4th L. Sifleet, 5th Fowler, 6th Green.

Trophy winners 1st Aaron Sifleet, 2nd Rob Perkins, 3rd Paul Fowler, 4th Tony Bury. 1st Novice Dan Rawden, 2nd Novice Mick Owen and our mascot Freddie Bury.

Congratulations Aaron Sifleet 2022 210 ‘0’ Plate Champion

L. Sifleet had a flyer of a start from a mid-row position for Heat 3. Plain lay in 2nd, with Perkins and A. Sifleet vying for 3rd, D. Bury 5th and T. Bury 6th. Lap 4 and Fowler was up to 6th. Lap 5 saw the field slow under a Battenberg flag. On restart Plain took over at the front, which was later deemed an illegal move as he was just a fraction in front of L. Sifleet as the green flag was displayed on the start line and therefore was issued with a 10 second penalty placing him in 4th for the end result. On lap 8 A. Sifleet spun at Stow in his eagerness to pass Perkins, demoting himself to 7th. 1st L. Sifleet, 2nd Perkins, 3rd D. Bury, 4th Plain, 5th Fowler, 6th T. Bury.

Final : Unfortunately Plain, a serious contender for the ‘0’ Plate didn’t take the start. It was Perkins who took the early lead from A. Sifleet, Fowler, L. Sifleet, Henry, T. Bury and the rest. Perkins fought off a highly charged A. Sifleet who passed him out of Stow on lap 3. Perkins retook the place half a lap later. However, on lap 5 A. Sifleet made his pass stick at Stow. Try as he might, which made for an exciting race Perkins would have to settle for 2nd. Fowler fended off L. Sifleet until lap 7 but Fowler regained his 3rd place on the following lap. T. Bury who’d had a very consistent race passed L. Sifleet (having slowed dramatically) on the last lap to finish 4th. Stone who’d had consistent 9th place finishes in all the heats upped his game and finished 6th. 1st A triumphant A. Sifleet, 2nd Perkins, 3rd Fowler, 4th T. Bury, 5th L. Sifleet, 6th Stone, 7th Ray Sloane, 8th Green who’d raced with a rapidly deflating tyre! 9th Hancock having had an off at Stow on lap 9, restarted himself in true Hancock fashion! and completing the top 10 novice Rawden holding onto his air filter!
