A very wet Sunday morning greeted the drivers for our ‘0’ Plate meeting at Fulbeck. All competitors were well organised having scrutineered on the Saturday after practice!!! Jack Perkins was now proudly donning his red plates. Eight minute heats and a ten minute final was the order of the day. Modern technology isn’t all it’s cracked up to be as the timing line on the track played up throughout the day, therefore a close eye was kept on the final results. Do not refer to Alpha timings lap chart as it is incorrect.
Heat 1 On a wet track Stone had a brilliant start but on reflection had peaked a little too early and would be penalized with a 2 place penalty for breaking formation before the lights went out! He led the heat for 4 laps until the fighting duo of R. Perkins and Sifleet passed him at the top corner. Behind in 4th – 6th was Hopes, D. Bury and Fowler who were having a great scrap. By lap 8 R. Perkins had put a fair distance between himself and Sifleet and would go on to take the first win of the day. D. Bury was up to 4th, Fowler 5th with Henry now up to 6th. Lap 10 saw Fowler gain two places to achieve 3rd. 1st R. Perkins, 2nd Sifleet, 3rd Fowler, 4th D. Bury, 5th Henry, 6th Stone.
Heat 2 was led by D. Bury followed by R. Perkins, J. Perkins, Stone, Sifleet and O. Shelley. R. Perkins took over at the front at top corner for all of 4 laps then he came tumbling down the pecking order with mechanical issues. Bury regained the lead until lap 7 when Sifleet took over. Stone had previously passed J. Perkins as Henry battled it out with Fowler. Smith was having a great race and would finish 6th. I’m not supposed to mention that O’ Shelley lapped his father B. Shelley. 1st Sifleet, 2nd D. Bury, 3rd Stone, 4th J. Perkins, 5th Henry and 6th Smith.

Heat 3 It was Sifleet who took control of heat 3 with R. Perkins trying to find a way through, right up until the flag. By Midway distance both drivers had pulled out a large lead. J. Perkins spent a few laps fending off both D. Bury and Stone with Henry once again battling it out with Fowler. 1st Sifleet, 2nd R. Perkins, 3rd D. Bury, 4th Stone, 5th J. Perkins, 6th Fowler.
Final – The final shoot out for the coveted ‘0’ plate saw Sifleet on pole alongside him sat D. Bury, behind saw two of our younger drivers Stone and J. Perkins. As the lights changed it was Sifleet and R. Perkins followed by D.Bury, Stone, Fowler, J. Perkins and the rest who safely rounded the first corner. On lap 3 J. Perkins was back up to 4th with Fowler 5th Stone now 6th and Henry coming into the mix for a four way battle. By midway distance Sifleet was beginning to increase his lead on R. Perkins, D. Bury would remain in a solid 3rd, all drivers behind remained in station until the last lap when Smith claimed 8th place from Hopes. Sifleet came in victorious, R. Perkins 2nd, D. Bury 3rd, J. Perkins 4th, Stone 5th having driven with a puncture, Henry 6th, Fowler 7th, Smith (first novice home) 8th, Hopes 9th and Sloane completing the top ten. Every driver finished to score points.
