As we head towards the beginning of a new season, i thought i would take this opportunity to remind some you of the more technical terms you will hear around the pits this season.
boggy – jet too big
lean – jet too small
nip – worse than very lean
pinking – between lean and nip
rattley – refer to pinking
swampy – worse than boggy
hookey tool – tool to hook stuff with (usually a bent screwdriver)
pokey stick – stick to poke stuff with
skyhooks – every driver must have
old fart – the guy they can overtake
maniac – the guy that overtook them
thingamajig – applies to almost anything
wotsit – like thingamajig or the crisp they dropped in the engine
whizzybit – a thingamajig thats goes round
round thingy – located near whizzybit
widget – a more scientific wotsit or thingamajig
skiddy – no grip at all (the tyres fault)
skullage – mankey oil
skullage pot – container for mankey oil
squish – has difficulty in fitting in seat
thunk – past tense of think (used very rarely)
yuckystuf – collective name for mankey oil and grease
